Cyrill Ibrahim, in Studio.
Cyrill Ibrahim is an acclaimed concert pianist, remarkably stylish man, and someone who it's been an honour to work with on a couple of different occasions. My first opportunity to formally photograph Cyrill was beneath the world-famous Barbican, deep within the prestigious Guildhall School's recording studios. Breaking away from traditional classical musical photography, I sought inspiration from the work of William Claxton's intimate, vulnerable Jazz imagery of the 1960s; black and white pieces that highlighted the work and sweat that went into formulating and refining the musical standards now iconic within our contemporary landscape.
